A guide to mid-year reflection - questions & organization tips

It's July, how the heck did that happen? Summer is often the time of hectic schedules, trying to relax or get away for a while, and feeling a little aimless or confused about what next step to take. But it's been quite a year and a half, and for many of us our goals, desires, plans, and projects have been thrown out the window or heavily adapted. In many ways, I feel like Covid has brought me back to a place of remembering what's truly important, and shattered some plans that never were right in the first place. It was like my train came to a screeching halt and I finally stepped outside and thought "why the hell was I even on this train anyways? I'd rather walk and look around for a while."

This was the year I finally feel like I've been able to "balance" (whatever that means) my life and my work. I'm doing things at a sustainable, human pace.

One of the biggest things that allowed for this massive shift is the process of exploring and assessing my goals and dreams. If I expect to live a life where I am constantly growing as a human, how can I expect my dreams to stay the same?

So I developed a check-in process that I do every 6 months or so, that helps me:

  • ground in who I am becoming, what I truly want, and where I am headed

  • remember what's important to me and what I want to prioritize

  • get back into my creative, inner child, and heart-centered self

  • update my dreams based on who I am now

  • say goodbye to outdated projects and to-dos

  • access the ideas and desires that I was too afraid to admit to myself

  • get off the busy train and enjoy where I am

If you're feeling lost, scattered, confused, or unsure where to put your energy, grab your colored pens, a candle, and some music, and join me in this Mid Year Refresh!

Mid Year Goals Reflection

When’s the last time you let yourself dream a little? How often do you put down the whip, step out of linear left brain thinking and access your creative brain when thinking about your future goals? Well, now is the time.

Using Notion to Organize Your Life + Business

So I’ll admit that I’m a bit of an organization nerd. I get really geeky about project planning and visioning. My last job title was co-founder and “strategic visioning director” if that tells you anything. That means I spent years learning how to be less scattered, and more effective in what I do and create.

When I came across Notion, (essentially a free online glorified bullet journal with cool features) I went hard and fast into creating a whole life-planning system that worked for my multi-passionate needs.

I created a system that:

  • makes it easy and simple to remember my goals

  • switch easily between big picture visioning and the day-to-day tasks

  • keep track of project planning

  • store all the articles, videos, and podcasts I come across and want to read/watch/revisit + more

Now, you may not be as geeky about this as I am, but I wanted to show you the template I created and show you how it works!

Much love,
